Defying all expectations, 100 Thieves posted a 7-2 record on the back half of the split and won one out of two tiebreakers to lock up a 3rd place LCS finish. Now, due to some...ahem...creative playoff formatting and surprising choices by Cloud9, the squad faces a tough postseason run with C9 being the first round matchup. Fortunately, double elimination is on the table this split. This weekend’s LCS games fulfilled every non-gamer’s stereotype of esports, with matches of critical importance being played by dudes in their pajamas sitting alone in their dark rooms. 100T gave C9 a little more of a contest than they were expecting, while FlyQuest learned that they can’t social distance themselves from a good ol’-fashioned butt kicking. 100 Thieves may have done enough to save playoffs, and --dare we say it-- could contend for a top 4 playoff spot, giving them the chance for double elimination during their run. It seems 100T is consistent at two things: Ssumday popping off, and the rest of the team being wildly INCONSISTENT. Even though the squad comes out with a 2-0 weekend, it was yet another week of playing well once and playing poorly another time.
